Red-breasted Nuthatch

The woods was very quiet today, but when I heard a distant Chickadee "talking," I stopped where I was and started doing my imitation of a Pygmy Owl's repetitive tooting. Within five minutes a flock of about 15 small birds had gathered in the trees above and around me to scold and search for their enemy. This Red-breasted Nuthatch came out into the open for just a few seconds to peer down at me.
