Western Bluebirds at my place
Since returning from my trip to India, Nepal and Malaysia I have had very little time for real "birding." But I have had opportunities to hear birds, and to watch them casually, while I'm working on the 10 acres of forest land I recently purchased, and hope to live on one day. In the meantime, I've put up several nestboxes, in hope that as spring arrives some birds will find them suitable for nesting in this season. So a few days ago, when I saw a pair ofWestern Bluebirds claiming one of the boxes that the Violet-green Swallows also seem to like, I was quite pleased. It is made even more special by remembering that my dad showed me the eggs in a Bluebird nest in one of his boxes only about 400 yards from my box. And that was almost 60 years ago!
