Tundra Swan, juvenile

On a rainy day, two days before the New Year comes in, this juvenile Tundra Swan was relaxing on the fishing pond in Willamina, Oregon. The (almost) all-pink bill indicates it is a young bird, but nothing I could see explained why it was here, instead of out feeding in the grass fields with the flock that spends every winter somewhere in the Willamette Valley.

Orange-crowned Warbler and winter grapes

This Orange-crowned Warbler is continuing to feed on my leftover grapes, but they are almost gone now. I wonder what he (or she) will find to eat next. It's too late to head for Guatemala now.

December Backyard Beauties

This male Anna's Hummingbird was the star of the show, but the Yellow-rumped and Orange-crowned Warblers (below) were very entertaining.

A short video is at the following link, and please pardon the vehicle noise in the background. It "watches" better if you turn the volume down.
