Hermit Thrush in cold weather
When I arrived at my property in the foothills of the Coast Range this afternoon, the temperature was up to about 35 degrees, but there was still some unmelted snow in the shady areas. But this Hermit Thrush was very energetic, and was apparently finding things to eat on the frozen ground. It was the only bird I saw there today, but it was enough to make the place seem alive. I did hear a few Golden-crowned Kinglets among the Fir branches, maybe searching for spider eggs.
